McGehee Owls win conference championship

McGehee defeated Dewitt 35-0 at home tonight to win the 8 4-A conference championship. The Owls finished the regular season play with a 9-1 overall record and undefeated in conference play. McGehee has a bye in the first round of the playoffs next week.

Dewitt didn’t pose much of a threat to the Owls during the game and the mercy rule went into effect early in the third quarter. The second string went saw some playing time and the Owls took a knee on the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter to avoid running up the score.

Dewitt finishes its season with a 2-8 record.
