District Judge Reid Harrod found probable cause Tuesday to hold two Crossett men for aggravated assault in connection with the Saturday afternoon melee at Pine Street Park in Hamburg.

Derrick Antonio Haynes, 28, and Ray Lee Thompson, 25, both of Crossett, are being held on $500,000 bond each.

Lorenzo Rashad Miller, 22, of Hamburg, one of three men who were hit by gunfire at a melee at the park, died of a gunshot wound to the back. Rosario Ford, 21, was struck in the leg and Chris Diggs was struck in the hip. Ford and Diggs’ injuries were not life threatening.

Hamburg Police Chief Tommy Breedlove said Sunday it’s not clear what lead to the shooting but groups of people from Hamburg, Crossett and Wilmot were gathered at the park at 3:20 p.m. when the shooting occurred. As many as 50 people were there but some fled when police arrived.

The case is still under investigation.
