Level 4 sex offender suspected in sexual assault of 12-year-old girl

A Level 4 sex offender from Wilmar was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl while sleeping in the same bed with her, according to a news release from Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober.

Randy Milburn, 30, likely will be charged with second-degree sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child. The girl and her mother were visitors in the home where the assault is alleged to have occurred.

Milburn, who has a criminal history dating back 11 years, is the only Level 4 sex offender registered in Drew County. A Level 4 sex offender is considered to be a sexual predator.

Milburn received a 12-month jail sentence in Bradley County in 2003 for false imprisonment of a 7-year-old girl. Two years later, he was sentenced in Bradley County to 20 years in prison after he was convicted of the kidnapping and aggravated assault of a 10-year-old girl. He was released on supervised parole after serving about five years of his 20-year sentence. He also had a theft of property and criminal mischief conviction in Drew County in 2001.

Milburn is being held in the Drew County Detention Center on a $200,000 bond.
