Burglary suspect killed in 2-vehicle accident at Wilmar

A Monticello man fleeing Bradley County law enforcement officers was killed Wednesday afternoon in an accident on U.S. 278 at Wilmar when he lost control of his car and hit an oncoming SUV.

Keshawn Jamison, of Monticello, 26, was traveling east at high rate of speed at 12:27 p.m. when he lost control of his wine-colored Sebring as he crossed the railroad track in Wilmar. The car left the roadway then re-entered going into a spin and the rear hit the front of a westbound SUV driven by Kathy Spilker, 54, of Drew County, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober.

After hitting the SUV, the car left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch on the north side of the highway.

Jamison and and Spilker were both were transported by ambulance to Drew Memorial Hospital where Jamison was pronounced dead and Spilker was treated and released.

Gober said Jamison was suspected in burglaries in Warren.
