A Dumas man was killed in a fire Saturday morning at the detail shop where he worked.

Joseph Himmel, 27, an employee at A.C.’s Detail shop on U.S. 65 North in Dumas, was pronounced dead at the scene by Desha County Coroner Joe Wilkin.

“A.C. had left the shop to clean a vehicle and when he got back the building was on fire and he couldn’t get in there to rescue the boy,” Wilkin said.

The cause of the fire, which occurred around 9:30 a.m., is still under investigation, according to Wilkin.

The body was sent to the state Medical Examiner.
