The Drew County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Monday morning fatal shooting of a Monticello man. David Clyburn, 21, died Monday at 3:34 a.m. at Drew Memorial Hospital following a shooting on the parking lot of Paradise Apartments on U.S. 425 South in Drew County, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober. Woods’ claim of racial bias in jury selection is unfounded

Early last year, a Drew County jury spared the life of a Warren man who murdered his Cleveland County girlfriend outside Monticello grocery store, but Jonathan Woods appealed his murder conviction and life sentence to the Arkansas Supreme Court where he argued that there was racial bias in the jury selection process at his Drew County Circuit Court trial. Guns, ammunition stolen from Warren business

Warren Police are investigating a Friday morning commercial burglary in which several guns were stolen. According to a news release from the Warren Police Department, someone entered the Swap Shop at Warren at 12:05 a.m. on October 6 and broke a gun cabinet and stole several pistols and a small amount of ammunition. The mother of a 19-month-old Monticello girl who suffered blunt force trauma likely will face first-degree murder charges in connection with the child’s death, according to Monticello Police Chief Eddy Deaton.
