A former candidate for state representative was arrested Monday to begin serving a 90-day jail sentence for harassment and harassing communications. James A. Hall appealed his April 2015 Drew County Circuit Court conviction of harassment and harassing communications to the Arkansas Court of Appeals. That appeal was denied in August. Police are investigating an early Sunday morning fatal shooting in Dumas. Blake White, 25, of McGehee, sustained multiple gunshot wounds, according to Chuck Blevins, an investigator with the Dumas Police Department. The shooting occurred Sunday shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Willow Street in Dumas. White sustained gunshot wounds to the head, shoulder and underneath the right arm, according to Desha Coroner Joe Wilkin. The 14th Annual StarDaze Festival will be held on April 14-15 in Star City. This year’s music lineup includes Jo Dee Messina, Exile, Chris Lane, Bailey Bryan and RaeLynn.
