Betty Jo Channell, 93, of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Wilmot, died on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Harbor View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Memphis.
She was a resident of Wilmot for many years and a native of Nevada, Missouri.
Mrs. Channell was a homemaker and the former owner of Callaway Oil and Butane. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Wilmot Garden Club and the Wilmot United Methodist Church. She was also an avid Bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dupuy Channell in 1980; a son, George William “Bill” Channell in 1984 and her parents, Joe and Ollie Medford Callaway.
She is survived by two daughters, Jody Allen and Ann Cole and husband, Jimmy, all of Memphis, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law, Twyla Fisher of Portland; Twyla’s son, Robert Pugh; cousins, Katy and Don Hartley of Hamburg; six grandchildren, Hayley C. Golden, Cody Channell, Walker Allen, Callaway Cole, Channell Cole and Jacqueline Cole and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will he held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at the Wilmot Cemetery with Rev. David Sullivan and Jackson Currie officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are James Johnson, Richard Stock, Cayce Stock, Randy Haynes, Jackson Currie, Bill Johnson Jr. and Jimmy Stanley.
