The Drew County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the October 16 fatal shooting of a Monticello man.
David Clyburn, 21, died on Monday, October 16 at 3:34 a.m. at Drew Memorial Hospital following a shooting on the parking lot of Paradise Apartments on U.S. 425 South in Drew County, according to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober.
Gober said a person in a vehicle attempting to leave the apartments fired two shots, one of which struck Clyburn after Clyburn allegedly approached the vehicle with a gun in an “aggressive” manner.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Citing the ongoing investigation, Gober declined to identify the person who allegedly fired the shots.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case file will be forwarded to 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen for a charging decision, according to Gober.
