The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team notched its first win of the 2017 season taking down the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist in extra innings, 7-5, and giving head coach John Harvey his 161st win at UAM.
The win made Harvey the all-time win record holder in Arkansas-Monticello baseball history, passing the late Carl Preston.
Harvey recently became the first coach in school history to sign a multi-year contract when he inked a two-year agreement with automatic two-year rollovers through 2021.
Harvey led UAM to a 40-16 record in 2016 that included the Great American Conference tournament championship and the school’s second-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament. The Boll Weevils finished one victory away from earning a berth in the Division II College World Series.
