Linda Ellington, 75, of Dermott, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Little Rock.
She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello and received her master’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Mrs. Ellington was a retired school teacher who taught in the Dermott School District for 16 years and Pulaski County School District for 22 years. She was a member of the National Education Association, past secretary and vice-president of the Arkansas Education Association. She served on the board the York Williams Foundation and was a volunteer at the Clinton Presidential Library.
Mrs. Ellington was born on November 28, 1941 in Sugarland, Texas and was the daughter of the late Houston Elmer Jackson, Sr. and Nina Mae Rhodes Jackson.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Pickard Ellington; sister, Ann Welch; brothers, H.E. Jackson and Tommie Crawford Jackson.
Survivors include her sons, David Rafe Ellington and his wife, Shannon of Pine Bluff and Kim Reindl Ellington and his wife, Sharon of Jerome; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee with Rev. Larry Donaldson and Rev. John Compton officiating. Burial will be at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott.
