Michael Lunsford, 59, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, formerly of Pickens, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home on February 5, 2018 after a long illness.
He was born at University Hospital in Little Rock on May 13, 1958 to Havis Adell and Ellen Lovell Lunsford, formerly of Pickens.’
Mr. Lunsford was educated in the Dumas Public School System and later entered the United States Navy. He was a gunner’s mate and the plank holder aboard DD-972, USS Oldendorf, serving from 1977 until1986. He was an avid hunter, story-teller and enjoyed reading. In his youth he was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Dumas.
Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include three children, Sarah Ellen Lunsford and James Lunsford of Redmond, Washington and Gayle Diane Lunsford of Lynnwood, Washington; two granddaughters, Abby Mae Dillan Lunsford and Dalihla Rose De Melo; friend and caregiver, Teresa Lunsford of Spokane Valley Washington; seven siblings, Linda Jean Davidson of Star City, Nancy Lunsford of White Hall, Allen Lunsford of East End, Kathy Elliott of Tillar, Mary Mallory of Bryant, Karen Smith of Alexander and Roger Lunsford of Dumas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas.
