Monticello School District receives Drew Central tax revenues by mistake

The Monticello School District received more than $1 million in tax revenues over the last 10 years that should have gone to the Drew Central School District, according to a KARK report.

According to the report, Hood Packaging, a Drew County industry, paid about $1.3 million in property taxes since 2006. Drew Central should have received 92 percent of that money. However, the Monticello School District received that revenue as a result of a coding error in the Drew County Assessor’s Office a decade ago.
