The Southeast Arkansas Concert Association will launch its new season on August 24 with two performances of the Cleveland County Community Theater production of the Southern classic Steel Magnolias. Performances will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. Cellist Alexander Hersh, the National Federation of Music Clubs’ 2019 Young Artist Winner, will perform next month, on September 19, at 7 p.m. in the UAM Fine Arts Center. There will be no admission charge.

The University of Arkansas at Monticello Music Theatre Workshop will present two performances of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, November 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the UAM Fine Arts Center. The Arkansas Festival Ballet, accompanied by the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, will present one full-length performance of The Nutcracker on December 1 at 3 p.m. at the UAM Fine Arts Center. March 12, 13 and 14
The Southeast Arkansas Concert Association’s community theater will present four performances of its production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music on March 12 through March 14 at the UAM Fine Arts Center. Performances: March 12 at 7 p.m. March 13 at 7 p.m. March 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Auditions are scheduled for January 11 and are open to residents in Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew and Lincoln counties, the seven counties the Southeast Arkansas Concert Association serves. Tickets are $25. Ticket sales open in February.
For the season finale, the Southeast Arkansas Concert Association will present a Big Band Dinner Dance on April 17 at 7 p.m. featuring Jeremy Davis and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra accompanied by the UAM Jazz Band. Southeast Arkansas Concert Association’s annual memberships provide reserved seating at each show, the first opportunity for spring musical tickets, and reduced overall pricing. This year, purchasing a membership means your Steel Magnolias tickets are free. Memberships can be purchased online or by phone.

Eighty UAM students with a valid student ID will receive one free ticket to all shows of the season. The limited quantity of tickets are available in the Music Office two weeks prior to the show.
