Star City students’ artwork in regional art show

The artwork of 30 students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School is included in the 2017 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The show is sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association.

The exhibit will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello from March 13 until April 2. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 2 at 2 pm. The public is invited to attend.

Jimmy Brown Elementary students who placed in the regional art show include Melody Rambin, 2nd Place Kindergarten; Haylie Rhodes, 1st Place 1st grade; Madelyn Boardman, 1st Place 2nd grade; Allie Earnest, 4th Place 2nd grade; Cora Rambin, 4th Place 3rd grade; Zoee Carter, 3rd Place 4th grade; Jose Gaona, 4th Place 4th grade; and Jaden Sherrill, 2nd Place 5th grade.

Other Jimmy Brown Elementary School students with artwork included in the exhibit include: Ryan Holloway, 1st grade; and Shelby Rainbolt, 5th grade. The Jimmy Brown Elementary School students are under the instruction of art teacher Suzi Davis.

Star City Middle School students who placed in the regional art show include: Julie Craft, 2nd Place 6th grade; Kayonna Klinkhammer, 4th Place 7th grade; and Chandler Weast, 4th Place 8th grade.

Other Star City Middle School students with artwork in the exhibit include: Jayden Hankins, 6th grade; Kolby McBryde, 6th grade, Alayna Plumlee, 6th grade; Lindley Alder, 7th grade; Cale Edmonds, 7th grade; Chloe Goodman, 8th grade; and Mackenzie Kimball, 8th grade. The Star City Middle School students are under the instruction of art teacher Jill Moore.

Star City High School students who placed in the regional art show include: Kaylee Eifling, 1st Place 9th grade; Autumn Jackson, 2nd Place 9th grade; Alexia Lams, 3rd Place 9th grade; Sadie Whaley, 4th Place 9th grade; Karley Spivey, 1st Place 10th grade; Ravyn Ward, 3rd Place 10th grade; Courtney Malone, 1st Place 11th grade; and Dylan Bitely, 2nd Place 12th grade.

Other Star City High School students with artwork in the exhibit include: Sydney Hill, 12th grade; and Bryan Sweet, 12th grade. The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.

The 2017 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Union counties.
