Fiddler on the Roof, winner of nine Tony Awards and one of Broadway’s longest running and most beloved musicals, will be presented by the University of Arkansas at Monticello Music Theatre Workshop and the SEARK Concert Association November 17-18 at 7 p.m. in the UAM Fine Arts Center.

The musical, based on the tales of Sholem Aleichem including Tevye and his daughters, is set in Russia around 1905 and centers around Tevye’s attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions in a rapidly changing world. Tevye must cope with his three eldest and willful daughters who wish to break with tradition to marry the men they love, even if that takes them away from their village and the faith.
