University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball student-athlete Derylton Hill was selected to the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Central Region Second Team, announced Monday after his stellar 2016-2017 season.
Hill, a junior from Palm Bay, Florida, was also selected as the Great American Conference Newcomer of the Year, and earned a First-Team All-GAC selection as well. Hill led the Weevils in multiple categories including points per game (16.8), rebounds per game (7.1), field goal percentage (58 percent), free throws made (130), total points (504), and blocks (12).
Hill also ranked in the top ten of multiple GAC categories as well which included scoring (T-6th), rebounding (7th), field goal percentage (3rd), and steals (6th).
The Weevils finished the season with a 23-7 overall record and a 17-5 finish in the Great American Conference to claim the the GAC Regular Season Title. UAM fell in the GAC Tournament Championship game against East Central, but earned a four seed in the NCAA Central Region Tournament where the Weevils were defeated by defending national champion Augustana this past Saturday in Maryville, Missouri.
