A Desha County man has been arrested for allegedly shooting two persons in Dumas Thursday night following a domestic disturbance, according to State Police.

Jason Jenkins, 36, of Dumas died at a local hospital and Robert Washington, 35, of Dumas, was treated and released. The shooting occurred outside a residence on South Ash Street.

Derrick Nixon, 34, of Dumas was taken into custody shortly after Dumas police arrived at the residence about 10:55 p.m. Nixon is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons, according to State Police.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division and the Dumas Police Department are investigating the homicide.
