A Monticello woman died, her passenger was injured, and the driver of another vehicle was injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon on the U.S. 278 bypass in Monticello.
Peggy Hallman, 67, of Monticello driving east on U.S. 278 in rainy weather when her vehicle crossed the center line of the highway into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by Adam Willis, 27, of Hot Springs.
Hallman and her passenger, an unnamed minor, were both ejected from the vehicle after impact. Hallman died and her passenger was injured. Willis was also injured.
The accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. The weather was rainy and the roadway was wet.
At least 114 people have died as a result of crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
