An 18-year-old passenger in a pickup truck was killed Tuesday afternoon after the truck was hit by a train at Montrose, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report.
Chase Andrew Barbee, of Montrose, died in the accident. The accident report indicated that another person was injured in the accident, but the report did not identify the injured person or the driver of the pickup truck.
According to the accident report, the driver of a 1996 Dodge Dakota was traveling east on U.S. 82B and continued across railroad tracks where the truck was struck by a northbound train.
The accident occurred at 3:09 p.m. Travel conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident, according to the accident report.
At least 22 people have died on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
