The pastors of 14 Drew County churches called for a spiritual awakening Sunday afternoon at the “Cry Out America Prayer Rally” on the Drew County Courthouse lawn. The rally was part of a nationwide event in which pastors across American prayed for a spiritual awakening in America.

Dr. Bobby Spencer, pastor of Oak Grove Assembly of God and coordinator of the local event, welcomed a crowd of about 80 people. The Rev. Jimmy Albrecht, pastor of Second Baptist Church, offered the opening prayer; the Rev. Sanders Brooks, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, led the pledges to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible; the Rev. Keith Underhill, pastor of First Assembly of God, commemorated the events of September 11, 2011; the Rev. Tim McDaniel, pastor of  First Free Will Baptist Church, offered a prayer of repentance; the Rev. Chad Graves, pastor of Pauline Baptist Church, offered a prayer for revival; the Rev. Steve Fleming, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, offered a prayer for leaders and government; the Rev. Alford Branch, pastor of Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church, offered a prayer for unity; the Rev. Larry Doggett, pastor of Fountain of Life Church, offered a prayer for the spiritually lost; the Rev. Michael Jones, pastor of the Revival Center, offered a prayer for law enforcement, fire fighters and other emergency responders; the Rev. Ron Paul, pastor of First Baptist Church, offered a prayer of blessing; and Dr. Dwayne Roper, pastor of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church, offered the closing prayer.
