Drew Memorial Hospital received a quality award for its reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), according to a news release from the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care.
The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) presents annual awards to recognize improvement in individual health care organizations’ performance in AFMC’s quality improvement projects.
“I am very proud of our physicians and nurses at Drew Memorial Hospital,” said Drew Memorial Hospital CEO Mike Layfield. “This shows they are committed to reducing hospital infections and providing our patients with the very best of care.”
Layfield and Barbara Barnes, a registered nurse who oversees infection control at the hospital, accepted the award on behalf of the hospital at an April 5 awards luncheon during the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care’s Quality Conference in Little Rock last week.
