Two Ashley County residents died late Friday afternoon when their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer in Fountain Hill.
Sharrie Williams, 21, of Crossett, and Williams’ passenger, Drackus Charleston, 29, of Hamburg, died in the crash, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report.
Williams was driving a Toyota west on Arkansas 8, near Arkansas 133, when Williams lost control of the the car, causing it to travel into the eastbound lane. The car was then struck on the right side by an eastbound Kenworth tractor-trailer, according to the police report.
The crash occurred at 3:50 p.m. The weather rainy and the road conditions were wet.
At least 399 people have been killed on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
