Two Southeast Arkansas men were killed and two others were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash on U.S 82, east of Montrose, according to a preliminary State Police accident report.
Kenneth Taylor, 54, of Montrose, and his passenger, Carl Burns, 54, of Montrose, were killed in the accident. Jorge Mondragon, 45, of Crossett, and Carolyn Staudy, 42, of Lake Village, was injured.
Taylor and Burns were traveling west in the eastbound lane of U.S. 82, east of Montrose, when the accident occurred, according to the police report.
A second vehicle, driven by Mondragon, and a third vehicle, whose driver is not identified in the accident report, were both traveling east when the third vehicle moved to the westbound lane to try to avoid hitting the Taylor vehicle. The Taylor vehicle struck the third vehicle on the passenger side causing vehicle three to leave the highway and come to rest on the westbound shoulder. The Taylor vehicle then struck the Mondragon vehicle on the driver side. Both the Taylor vehicle and the Mondragon vehicle came to rest in the center of the highway.
Staudy was a passenger in the third vehicle whose driver was not identified.
The accident occurred at 8:55 p.m. It was raining and the roadway was wet.
