A Hot Springs couple was killed in a traffic accident on U.S. 65 in Chicot County Sunday afternoon when their northbound Oldsmobile left the highway, striking a concrete divider before going through a guard rail and into a ditch. The car then struck a tree and overturned, according to Arkansas State Police.

Two passengers, John Thyfault, 80, and Lois Thyfault, 78, both of Hot Springs Village were killed in the accident.

The driver, Edward Levy, 72, and passenger Sharon Levy, 62, also of Hot Springs Village, were injured in the accident.

The accident occurred at 2:48 p.m.

The Thyfaults were pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroner Keith Donaldson. The injured were taken to the McGehee hospital and UAMS in Little Rock.
