A Monticello man and a Rison man were killed Tuesday in a head-on collision on U.S. 425, south of Hamburg.
The accident occurred shortly before noon Tuesday when a southbound Dodge pickup truck crossed the center line of the highway and sideswiped a northbound Ford pickup truck before continuing south in the northbound lane where it collided head-on with a northbound Mack semi truck, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, William Ray Cockrell, 82, of Rison, and the driver Mack truck, Bobby N. Reep, 73, of Monticello, were both killed in the accident, according to the accident report.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck, Chris Michael Burchell, 32, of Bastrop, Louisiana, was injured in the accident, according to the accident report, though it did not indicate whether he was taken to a hospital.
The accident occurred on September 19 at 11:31 a.m. Travel conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident, according to the accident report.
At least 351 people have died on Arkansas roads this year.
