Thirty Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School have their artwork included in the 2019 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The art show is sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association. [See the students and their art below.]
The exhibit will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello until March 17. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Jimmy Brown Elementary students who placed in the regional art show include, CJ Miller, 3rd place kindergarten; Landon Zeal, 4th place kindergarten; Addison Bolen, 3rd place 1st grade; Jay’Len Watkins, 2nd place 2nd grade; Kirsten Glasscock, 2nd place 3rd grade; Maci Fowler, 1st place 4th grade; and Alyce Hegwood, 1st place 5th grade.
Other Jimmy Brown Elementary School students with artwork included in the exhibit include: Ha’Leigh Johnson, 1st grade; Jasmine Martinez, 2nd grade; and Melissa Cochrane, 5th grade.
The Jimmy Brown Elementary School students are under the instruction of art teacher Suzi Davis.
Star City Middle School students who placed in the regional art show include Zander Gibson, 4th place 6th grade; Lane Tucker, 2nd place 7th grade; and Madilynn Bolen, 3rd place 7th grade.
Other Star City Middle School students with artwork in the exhibit include Olivia Boysen, 6th grade; Emma Berry, 7th grade; Charli Milano, 7th grade; Ja’Kayla Robinson, 7th grade; Kadence Gibson, 8th grade; Laynie Smith, 8th grade; and Marshall Rambin, 8th grade.
The Star City Middle School students are under the instruction of art teacher Jill Moore.
Star City High School students who placed in the regional art show include Rebecca Earnest, 2nd place 9th grade; Jane Ellen Floyd, 3rd place 9th grade; Bryan Magana, 1st place 10th grade; Arista Wilkerson, 3rd place 10th grade; Autumn Jackson, 1st place 11th grade; Natalie Blake, 3rd place 11th grade; and Ravyn Ward, 4th place 12th grade.
Other Star City High School students with artwork in the exhibit include Kendell Manes, 9th grade; Alexia Lams, 11th grade; and Britney Smith, 12th grade.
The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.
The 2019 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Union counties.
