A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Southeast Arkansas, including Ashley Bradley, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson and Lincoln counties, as well as portions of southwest, central, eastern, north central, northeast Arkansas, according to the National Weather Service.

Tropical Storm Barry will begin to spread heavy rainfall into the area Saturday afternoon and continue through early next week. Rainfall amounts of four to six inches can be expected with local amounts exceeding eight to ten inches possible. These amounts may lead to flash flooding. While flash flooding will be a primary concern this weekend into early next week, rivers in eastern Arkansas will need to be monitored for flood potential later next week, according to the National Weather Service reported.

The National Weather Service is also reporting a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms. The main concern will be isolated tornadoes.
