Just over a week after a SeaArk Marine, a Monticello boat manufacturer, announced that it would not be taking new orders until further notice, Georgia Pacific has announced that it will be closing its Crossett plywood and stud mills indefinitely, eliminating 700 jobs, most of which are in the plywood mill.

Citing the sluggish commercial and residential construction market, Georgia Pacific announced that it will be closing factories in Crossett and Hawthorne, Fla. on November 7. In addition to the 700 workers in Crossett, about 400 will be affected in Florida. The closure doesn’t affect the company’s paper and resin factories in Crossett.
