[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team recorded its seventh straight Great American Conference victory in decisive fashion, defeating Southeastern Oklahoma State 11-1 in seven innings on Friday at The Ballpark in Durant.
UAM (25-11, 15-7 GAC) hung nine runs on the Savage Storm (16-17, 7-12 GAC) in the top of the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run homerun from senior Ray Johnson and a two-run single by senior D’Marco Poindexter.
The Weevils picked up their third run-rule victory of the season after getting solo homeruns from seniors Chad Miller and Poindexter in the top of the seventh inning to finalize the scoring.
Poindexter led his club with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate and three RBI. Johnson finished 3-for-4 and Miller finished 2-for-3.
Sophomore Zach McKnight (3-2) earned the win in relief after allowing just one run off five hits with five strikeouts and one walk in the final six innings.
Cody Coats and Jacob Soisson led the Storm with 2-for-3 outings at the plate. Coats picked up SE’s only RBI of the day on a single in the bottom of the fourth. Cameron Conley (2-5) took the loss for SE after giving up five runs off five hits with five strikeouts and four walks in the first five innings.
