An inmate at the Arkansas Department of Correction’s Varner Unit in Grady died Tuesday night as a result of injures he sustained in an escape attempt, according to the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Vann Tucker, 29, reportedly fell from an electric fence at the Varner Unit at Grady Saturday morning.

Tucker was serving a life sentence. He was convicted in 2009 for aggravated robbery and aggravated residential burglary. He was sentenced as a habitual offender. He previously was sentenced to 20 years for second-degree murder. On the murder conviction, he spent about seven years before he was paroled in 2008.

Tucker previously escaped from the Grimes Unit in Jackson County in 2002 but was quickly recaptured.
