Alex McGaha

Alex McGaha of McGehee, a senior agriculture business major at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, is the first recipient of the Gilliam Family Farm Scholarship.

The endowed scholarship was established in memory of Eugene Frank “Gene” Gilliam and Dorothy Lou “Dot” Ford Gilliam by their daughters, Barbie Gilliam Johnson and Lou Ann Gilliam Sales. The Gilliams were lifelong farmers in the McGehee area.

The scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior enrolled in the UAM School of Agriculture with first preference given to a student who graduated from a Desha or Drew County high school.

McGaha is the son of John and Theresa McGaha of McGehee.
