Alice Gertrude Durham Low, 94, passed away November 7, 2021.
She was born on October 14, 1927, in Lake Village to her parents, Charles Lee and Alice Virginia Suitt Durham.
Alice worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for most of her life, and in her spare time, she loved sewing and cooking for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Fred Wetzler, Roy Wetzler Sr., Jack Durham, Josh Durham, Perry Durham, and Charles Lee Durham Jr.; three sisters, Emma Nell Durham Sanderson, Kate Marvel Durham Cingolani, and Mary Florence Durham.
Alice is survived by two children, Mary J. Kersh Otwell and Viron T Kersh III; four grandchildren, Gunnar Kersh (Sheridan), Stephen Otwell (Deniece), Matt Otwell (Mary Michelle), Sherrer McKenzie (Christopher); nine great-grandchildren, Ezra Kersh, Thomas, Davis, and Malin Batton, Ally Mckenzie, Alexander Otwell, Abigail Otwell, Katelyn Dumond (Tristan), Tyler Otwell (Courtney); two great-great-grandchildren, Brynn Otwell and Emery Dumond; loving family member, Katie Amos; and Fletcher Low’s four daughters, Sandra Low McGaugh, Kay Low Gable (Deceased), Judy Low Cannon (James), and Penny Low Crowson and their numerous children and grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Her family wishes to recognize her caregivers at The Woods of Monticello Nursing Home, where she was a resident for the past four years. Going through the COVID pandemic and shutdown, these brave and loving people were her family. We can not sing their praises enough. They became our family too. We love them and owe them a debt of gratitude that can never fully be repaid.
