Alice Kammerzell McAffry, 94, of Lake Village died on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born on November 19, 1922 in Hitchcock, Blaine County, Oklahoma and was the daughter of the late Jacob and the late Effie (Miller) Kammerzell. She was orphaned at the age of six and raised by an aunt, Pearl Miller, in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, California. She graduated from high school at the top of her class.
Mrs. McAffry married Frank S. McAffry, Jr. who served in the army during the WWII. She was a lover of animals and people, always giving her time and love to those in need. She was truly a selfless person. She worked at the ASCS/FSA as a Program Tech where she met her best friend, Dixie Phillips, until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Lake Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank “Toots” McAffry; brother, Ralph J. Kammerzell; and her beloved sister in law, Lena McAffry Burton.
Mrs. McAffry is survived by two sons, Patrick McAffry of Lake Village and Frank Smith (Annie) McAffry III of Lake Village; a daughter, Maryl Alice McAffry of Lake Village; four grandchildren, Ned McAffry, Anita McAffry, Terri (David) Dickson, Kim (Michael) Beard; seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village.
Memorials may go to Chicot County Humane Shelter in Lake Village.
