The television program, Ghost Brothers will feature the Allen House and the city of Monticello Friday night, April 22 at 9 p.m. on the Destination America Channel.
The Allen House, a 1906 mansion located on North Main Street in Monticello, has been the subject of speculation, intrigue, ghost stories and odd goings-on for more than 60 years.
It has been featured on numerous paranormal investigator shows including the Biography Channel’s My Ghost Story, the Discovery Channel’s A Haunting and The SciFi Channel’s Paranormal Witness and Ghost Hunters. It is also the subject of two novels, A Haunted Love Story by the house’s current owner, Mark Spencer and The Scent of Lilacs, a 1966 gothic novel by Monticello native Carolyn Wilson. The house also inspired a painting by Arkansas artist Daniel Coston, a Monticello native.
The Allen House and the city of Monticello is also the location of Derrick Sims latest project, The Perfect Host: A Southern Gothic Tale, a feature length film. Sims has just wrapped up the filming.
