Annie “Catherine” Jones Teel, 88, of Crossett, passed away on May 19, 2020, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 21, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Aldia Sinclair Jones.
At the young age of 12, Catherine had no choice but to quit school to care for her two younger sisters. The role of the caregiver was a natural fit due to her kind and loving personality. Catherine loved people; she was bubbly and enjoyed laughing and visiting with all her friends and family.
The home she shared with her late husband, Melvin, was her special place. She was meticulous about her yard and very thankful for Marty Edgar, who gave it extra care. She had a passion for growing beautiful flowers and was especially proud of her purple rose bush she named, “Angel Face.”
Visiting and having coffee with her longtime caregiver and niece, Joyce Collier, always brightened her day and she often called her friends and family to chat about numerous topics. She will be remembered by her favorite phrase, “Well, I say…”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Melvin Ray Teel; her parents, Walter Henry, and Aldia Leah Sinclair Jones; stepmother, Virginia Jones; a sister, Evelyn Jones Tanksley; and two brothers-in-law, Clyde Tanksley, and Sonny Jackson.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Jones Jackson of Crossett; fourteen nieces and nephews; two incredibly special neighbors, Gail Poplin Burchfield, and Norma Hamm; her best friend for many years, Carolyn Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private visitation will be held on Friday, and a private service will be held on Saturday at Medders Funeral Home.
