Four high school football coaches and 15 players from Southeast Arkansas are on the 2020 watch lists for the annual Farm Bureau Insurance football awards.

McGehee Coach Marcus Haddock and Rison Coach Clay Totty, are on the watch list for the 3A Coach of the Year while Warren Coach Bo Hembree and Monticello Coach Randy Harvey are on the watch list for 4A Coach of the Year.

Fordyce Coach Tim Rodgers, the 2019 2A Coach of the Year and Monticello native, is on the watch list for the 2020 2A Coach of the Year.

Fifteen Southeast Arkansas football players also made watch lists for offensive or defensive player of the year in their respective classifications.

Rison’s Eli Herrington is on the list for 3A Defensive Player of the Year. He is the only area football player from the 3A making a watch list.

Players from Southeast Arkansas on the watch list for 4A Offensive Player of the Year are Carlos Williams of Crossett, Kylin James of Dumas, Brett Rice, Armodd Taylor and Nick McNeil of Hamburg, Keon Smith of Monticello, Noah Noble of Star City and Tre’lon Marshall of Warren.

Lamonte Gilliam of Crossett, Logan Moss of DeWitt, Jamal Brewer and Gavin Harrod of Hamburg,
Tay Girtman of Monticello and Payton Byrd of Warren, are all on the watch list for the 4A Defensive Player of the Year.

The Farm Bureau Insurance Awards honor Arkansas’ top offensive player, defensive player and coach of the year for each classification, 2A through 6A/7A. Hooten’s Arkansas Football staff selects three finalists for each category in each classification. Those 45 finalists (across all classifications) and their families will be invited to attend a virtual award ceremony on December 21 when the coaches and players of the year will be announced.
