The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will host its “Walks Through History” tour on December 10 at Selma, an unincorporated community in northeastern Drew County.
The tour will include the Selma Methodist Church and the Selma Rosenwald School.
The tour will begin at 11 a.m. at the Selma Methodist Church, located at the intersection of State Highway 293 and Ables Creek Road in Selma. The Selma Methodist Church was built about 1874 and was originally built for a Baptist congregation.
The tour will continue to the Selma Rosenwald School, located on Selma-Collins Rd., approximately a quarter of a mile south of U.S. Highway 278 in Selma. The Selma Rosenwald School was built in 1924 with funds provided by philanthropist Julius Rosenwald.
The tour is worth two hours of HSW continuing education credit through the American Institute of Architects and is co-sponsored by the Drew County Historical Society.
