Arthur Leon Morgan, 92, of Dumas passed away on March 12, 2016.

Mr. Morgan served in the United States Army Air Corp and Air Force during WWII and Korea. He was the Dumas Police Chief for 19 years and worked for the Desha County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years.

He was a member of Anderson Chapel Baptist Church, the American Legion, Sheriffs Association, Municipal Police Association and Desha County Civil Defense.

Mr. Morgan was born October 19, 1923 at Tyro and was the son of the late, John and Elizabeth Lay Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Morgan.

Survivors are his wife, Helen Morgan of Dumas; a son, Glenn Morgan of Dumas; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is March 15 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas.

Funeral service will be held on March 16 at 2 p.m. Anderson Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be at Tyro Cemetery.
