Barbara Jayne Knapp, 81, of Lake Village, formerly of Eudora, died September 2, 2021, at her home.
Barbara was born July 24, 1940, in McArthur, Arkansas, to her parents Arthur “Dimp” Doss and Eva Estelle Doss.
She married Ralph D. Knapp, Sr. on August 10, 1957, in Greenville, Mississippi.
She was an active member of Eudora Baptist Church and was a music director at Church of Nazarene in McGehee. Barbara had many achievements in her life including her being the Chamber of Commerce president in Eudora and the SEARK Community Foundation director.
Barbara was employed for 25 years by Riceland Foods in Eudora as an office manager. She was a graduate of the Community Development Institute and a certified community developer for the leadership program with Entergy. She loved her community and showed that by holding fundraisers for community improvements and developments. She also ran for State Representative and Chicot County Judge.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ralph D. Knapp, Sr.; two daughters, Terri Denise Knapp of Dumas and Aimee Gale Knight and husband Dale of Hamburg; one son, Ralph Dale Knapp, Jr. and wife Floice of Monticello; two sisters, Lavaun Smith and husband James of McGehee and Sue Russell and husband Steve of Strong; one twin brother, Bob Doss and wife Brenda of Calgary, Canada, and three grandchildren, Peyton Knight, Parker Knight, and Brayden Knapp and wife Ashlyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Vivian Condry and Dorothy Thomas; and a brother, Billy Doss.
A private service for immediate family will be held at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village on Sunday, September 5, at 1 pm.
A graveside service and visitation will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora on Sunday, September 5, at 2:30 pm under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village, Arkansas.
