Remnants of Barry expected to move through eastern Arkansas Sunday and Monday.

Tropical Storm Barry is expected to make landfall early Saturday along the central Louisiana coast with the remnants of the storm moving through eastern Arkansas Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service said thunderstorm chances will increase with the potential for heavy rain, particularly over the eastern part of the state, as the storm approaches. Based on Barry’s expected path, several inches of rain could fall over eastern Arkansas with lesser amounts across central and western Arkansas.

While the exact details regarding strong to severe thunderstorms are uncertain this far out, severe weather can not be discounted, the National Weather Service said.
