The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and Drew County Extension Service will host a beekeeping workshop on Wednesday, February 1, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The workshop will be held at the Drew County Farm Bureau office at 656 Barkada Road. It will be a follow-up to the three-session workshop held at the UAM Ag building early last year where more than 100 apiary enthusiasts came from as far as Yell and Lonoke counties.
Jon Zawislak, UA Extension Apiculturist, will be the guest speaker. Zawislak is an entertaining, humorous, and effective communicator whose passion and knowledge of bees in unequaled.
Also, Sam Givhan, a local beekeeper, will spearhead an effort to begin a local beekeeping club. The goal will be to network with other beekeepers, share experiences, and conduct periodic meetings to increase knowledge of bee care.
There is no cost for the workshop, but participants are asked to contact the extension service office at 460-6270 and preregister.
