Ben F. Murphy, 89, of Hamburg, died December 8, 2013 at the Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett.
Mr. Murphy was a native of Ashley County; a former resident of Fort Worth and Hurst Texas having moved back to Hamburg in 1977. He graduated from Crossett High School in 1942 and he was a home builder, a Millwright and a business owner.
He was a member of the Crossett Masonic Lodge; a 32nd Degree Master Mason having received his 50 year pin, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite; a member of Carpenter & Joiner Union and had received his 50 year pin and a former member of the Carlock Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Wallers Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Sallie Maxwell Murphy; six brothers, Hugh, Bob, Charlie, Fred, Howard (Pete) and Dick Murphy; and three sisters, Laura Clark, Eleanor Honeycutt and Thelma Daniels.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally Ann Bolin Murphy; a daughter, Melissa Martin and husband, Bob; a sister-in-law, Merle Murphy; two grandsons, Jarred D. Martin and Chance Murphy Martin all of Hamburg and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Wallers Chapel United Methodist Church on December 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Toby Austin officiating. Burial will be at the Carlock Cemetery. Masons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Wallers Chapel United Methodist Church, 998 Ashley 14 N, Crossett, AR 71635.
