Bettie Jean Mitchell, 83 of Warren, died on July 20, 2019 at Sumpter.

She was born on April 8, 1936 in Warren and was the daughter of the late Huey Myrle Hendrix and Ida Mae Gatling Hendrix.

She was a registered nurse for 32 years at the Bradley County Medical Center where she served as the director of nurses. Later, she was the director of Bradley County Medical Center Home Health. Following her retirement, she served the Bradley County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, as well as board member of BCMC Home Health.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a graduate of Warren High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello Nursing Program.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Gale Ferguson.

Survivors are her husband of 43 years, Carl Mitchell; sons, Tim Ferguson and wife Karen of Warren and Ricky Ferguson of Warren; a daughter, Cheryl Mitchell and husband Tommy of Sumpter; stepsons, Brent Mitchell and wife Elaine of Warren, Joe Mitchell of Atlanta, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Lisa Berrihill of Destin Floriday; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren. Burial will be at Graves Cemetery near Mt Elba. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
