Betty Allen Hicks, 78, of Eudora, passed away on July 19, 2016.
She worked as a secretary at Eudora High School before going to work as an office manager for Reeves Big Star Grocery Store and Jade’s Food Store in Oak Grove, Louisiana. She loved to read, sew and spend time working in her flower garden. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Hicks was born on January 9, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Abner and Hattie Morris Allen.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Earl Allen.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Hicks of Eudora; sons, Allen Hicks and his wife Jan of Woodinville, Washington, Kenneth Hicks of Hephzibah, Georgia and Richard Hicks of West Monroe, Louisiana; daughter, Teresa Edwards and her husband Frank of Lebanon, Tennessee; brothers, Billy Eason of Branson, Missouri and Jimmy Eason of Brandon, Mississippi; sisters, Marjorie Hamilton of Lexington, Mississippi and Ernestine Word of Madison, Mississippi; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on July 22 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in Eudora. Funeral services will be held on July 23 at 10 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church in Eudora with Rev. Kenny Culpepper officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
