Betty Gibbs Norton, 76, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
Mrs. Norton was a bookkeeper, salesperson and worked in alterations for Van Atkins Department Store for 19 years. She was a member of Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was born April 8, 1941 in Pine Bluff, to the late Joseph Carroll Gibbs and Gertrude Appling Gibbs.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Abernathy, Patsy Jackson and Nancy Sipes.
She always put the needs of Gene before her own.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Marvin Norton of Monticello; one daughter, Terri Norton Funderburg and husband Gary of Camden; two sons, Joey Norton and wife Kelly and a very special son, Gene Norton all of Monticello; one sister, Peggy Gibbs Bumpass of Monticello; four grandchildren, Emily Funderburg Nugent and Sydney Funderburg both of Camden, Brett Norton and Heidi Norton both of Monticello; six great-grandchildren, Braxton Nugent, Branton Nugent, Addison Landon, Emma Kate Norton, Gracen Norton and Maeleigh Jo Norton.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
