Betty Jean Harris, 85, of Crossett, died October 10, 2014 at her home.

She was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a former employee of Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill, and was a member of Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served on the stewart board. She was also an Eastern Star and a member of Silver Star #306. Mrs. Harris loved the Lord and loved to shop, dress nice and look good.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie James “A.J.” Harris, Jr.; two sons, Donald and Archie Wendell Harris; two brothers, John and William Sims; and two sisters, Blanche Benford and Nellie Terry.

She is survived by a son, Eddie Charles Sims of Crossett; two daughters, Jacqueline Rhodes and husband Curtis of Crossett and Linda Henderson of Rockford, Ilinois; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held October 17 at 1 p.m. at Gates Chapel A.M.E. Church with Revs. Harriel White Tyrone Broomfield officiating.

Active pallbearers are Herman Newton, Elbert Ray Gibbs,Tony Allen, Terrian Keys, Johnny Mack & Tony Tatum. Honorary pallbearers are stewards and trustees of Gates Chapel and members of Silver Star #306. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery.

Visitation will be on October 16 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cromwell Funeral Home.
