Betty Lou Riley Hill, 73, of Monticello, passed away April 24, 2021 in Monticello.
She was born December 20, 1947 in Dumas to the late J.W. (Son) and Louise Kendrick Riley. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dwight Hill and one sister Patsy Lay.
Betty also attended Hopedale Baptist Church in Winchester and worked for the Dumas School District for 10 years before going into business for herself. She bought a grocery store and named it Betty’s Grocery. She owned it for six years before she decided to retire. She loved to work in her yard and garden and especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by one brother, Ricky Riley of Dumas; three sisters, Mary Smallwood, Sherry Hill and Tooty Hill all of Dumas; and three sons, Brad (Tanya) Hill, Kevin (Lori) Hill and Kirk (Kathy) Hill; a daughter, Mandy (BJ) James; and seven grandchildren, Emily Hand, Ava Hill, Maxwell Hill, Macy Hill, Kirby Hill, Kolby Hill and Jessica Johnson.
Visitation will be Monday, April 26, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 27, at Walnut Lake Cemetery with Jerry Rawson officiating.
