Herbert Holman took home the $50,000 prize with his 7.25-pound bass caught Friday in this year’s Simmons Bank Big Bass Bonanza. Holman beat out 1,751 other anglers to win the grand prize.

This is Holman’s eighteenth year to fish the tournament and his fifth year to compete with his son, Jason Holman.

First-place winners in each of the other pools winning $10,000 each:

Rance Warden and his father, Rocky Warden, both from Searcy, took home $1,000 cash and the Willow Leaf Award, which goes to the parent/child or grandparent/grandchild pair weighing the biggest fish. Their bass tipped the scales at 4.4 pounds.

Guaranteed place money for each of the five pools is $900 to 2nd place, $700 to 3rd place and $400 to 4th place to the winners, in each of the five pools.

A total of $193,750 in prize money was awarded, and the hourly payouts were $450 for 1st Place, $250 for 2nd Place and $175 for 3rd Place. In addition, if the hourly winners purchased and were wearing a Big Bass Bonanza t-shirt and cap, they received an extra $100 in bonus money per person. Bonus money awarded is $14,000.

Academy Sports and Outdoor gift cards were also won. For a 3.00 pound fish on the 3rd hour, a $300 gift card is awarded. For a 4.00 pound fish on the 4th hour a $400 gift card is awarded. For a 5.00 pound fish on the 5th hour a $500 gift card is awarded. Eight fishermen won gift cards totaling $2,600. Winners were John Rickard of Alma, Marcus Langford of Russellville, Tim Law of White Hall, Todd Chapen of Alma, Anthony Davis of Stinger, Oklahoma, David Heslep of Vilonia, Randy Seratt of Chester, and Doug Dedmond from Greenwood.

Five lucky anglers who fished all three days of the tournament won a fishing prize package including a Plano A-Series Tackle bag, Aqua-Vu Micro Underwater Camera and a St. Croix Rod Mojo Bass Rod. Winners were Jerry Miller of Perryville, Rusty Allen of Russelville, Bill Redditt of Boyle, Miss., Larry D. Lambertus of Malvern, and R.D. Hampton of Pine Bluff.

The tournament spans more than 300 miles of eligible fishing waters on the river inside the state’s borders. The event was divided into five pools. The grand prize and other cash awards were presented during Sunday’s award event at the North Little Rock RV park.
