Billy Joe Stevens, 77, of McGehee, passed away on August 4, 2016.
He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 29 years. He trained bird dogs and enjoyed quail and coon hunting.
Mr. Stevens was born at Banks on January 26, 1939 and was the son of the late Arthur Elmer and Willie Mae Stuart Stevens.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious wife of 48 years, Linda Bogy Stevens; brothers, Raymond Stevens and Dorse Stevens; sisters, Virginia “Jinny” Mooney, Catherine Minchew, Marjorie “Margie” Jones, Geraldine “Jelly” Cingolani, and Pauline Rivilin.
Survivors include sons, Brian Stevens and wife, Teresa, of Tillar and Scott Stevens and wife, Jennifer Young Stevens, of McGehee; a sister, Iona Louise Whitlow “Agnes” of Clarksville, Tennessee, his life partner, Charlotte Jones; grandchildren, Jake Stevens, Whittney Stevens Rushing and husband, Houston, and Crystal Stevens McCarty; great-grandchildren, MacKenzy McCarty, Aaryn McCarty and a great-grandchild due in December.
Visitation will be held at on August 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Funeral services will be held on August 7 at 2 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tim McDaniels officiating. Burial will be at McGehee Cemetery.
