Bobbie Ruth Carter Reynolds

Bobbie Ruth Carter Reynolds, 89, of Star City, passed away January 2, 2022 at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary.

She was born February 24, 1932 in Lincoln County to the late William Bart and Gracie Estell Cline Carter.

Bobbie graduated from Star City High School in 1949 and moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she went to work for Southern Bell Telephone Company.

She went on a blind date with Elmer “Punkin” Reynolds and they married on August 6, 1952 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. After marriage they returned to San Antonio, Texas, where he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force. During the next 20 years they moved a total of 12 times, living in eight different states.

Bobbie was a paraprofessional for Star City School District for many years. Bobbie began volunteering at Gardner Nursing Home in 1990 and in 1999 was the Volunteer of the Year. She continued going to Gardner’s to sing to the residents until December 2021. She enjoyed walking and working in her yard. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobbie was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Punkin” Wade Reynolds; four brothers, Robbie Ray Carter, Robert Edward Carter, Odis Gene Carter, and William Glyn Carter; three sisters, Loy Opal Scott, Gertrude Estelle McGehee, and Joy Bernice Rupe; granddaughter, Amanda Ruth Riley; and son-in-law, Clinton Dell “Butch” Riley.

Survivors include a son, Wade (Lisa) Reynolds; daughter, Debbie Riley, all of Star City; brother, Winford (Shelby) Carter of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Clayton Riley, Jonathan (Stefanie) Riley, Carter (Kacee) Reynolds, Jerred Arrowood, and Hayden Barbarre; six great-grandchildren, Logan Riley, Gracie and Jon Wesley Riley, Jensen and Britten Reynolds and Lacie Arrowood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, at 10 a.m. at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Bill Hilburn officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, January 5, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Holly Springs Cemetery.
